IS THERE A WINNER IN PARENTS vs GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS?

Yes! & Yes! Please don’t throw tomatoes and rotten eggs at me until you read this post through.  Then you may still want to throw them but I don’t think so. I continually state that the whole purpose of my commitment to this issue is “The best interest of the children”.   That takes care of the first Yes.  To the extent that we continue to put this debate on the table I promise you the children will benefit.  I have […]

Proud grandparents: Grandparents and adoption

One of the greatest of experiences in life is becoming a grandparent, even if it comes through unconventional means. Grandparents whose children adopt have a wonderful chance to welcome a brand new person into their family. As with all major life changes, adoption is both a wonderful and challenging experience, filled with excitement, adjustment and joy. This is no less true for the grandparents, as they watch their own beloved children dealing with all the emotions that come with adopting […]

Things you should know about your grandparents rights

This message is not intended to scare you. Actually, I hope it will instead inform you enough and give you some concrete ideas about what is out there for grandparents to enjoy. At the same time, I want to make you aware that your grandparents rights are important when it comes to these matters. Grandparents are as a group about 1/3rd of all adults in America. Robert Reich cares about grandparents rights

With the approaching Grandparents Day (September 13th) and Robert Reich, Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton, becoming a new grandparent himself, there is a call for grandparents to march on Washington. According to the Huffington Post, Mr. Reich wants new grandparents such as himself to join with grandparents across this country and utilize Grandparents day to call on Congress to pass meaningful Health-Care reform. He advocates the administration backed “Public-Option”. Critics call this an inappropriate use of Grandparents Day. […]

GRANDPARENTS DAY SHOULD BE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST!

GRANDPAERNTS RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The contribution of Caring Grandparents cannot be over stated.  It is our duty, whether you are a new grandparent or like myself on the verge of great grandparenthood, to raise Loving and Lovable children and help them to do the same. (Like the commercial says, “Wash, Rinse, Repeat”).  I am convinced that this process passed down through the generations  will have  a much grearer effect on this world than all the goverment programs combined.  The […]

5 THINGS TO CONSIDER ABOUT GRANDPARENTS EXERCISING

YUCK! you say?  I can’t blame you, however there are some important considerations about exercise since most of us can’t recall our last marathon,  well maybe the new grandparents can, but I am just two months away from  my 65th and I don’t choose to be a poster child for old folks running 26 miles. Mark Victor Hansen (Chicken Soup for the Soul Books Co-Author) tells the story of a 95 year old banquet waiter in one of the halls […]
