MEETING YOUR GRANDKIDS WHERE THEY ARE.

Like it or not we ARE in a time of CHANGE. Now we have two choices, find a really big rock to hide behind (NOT) or find a way to get good mileage out of where we find ourselves. I must admit I am not a gamer in any way shape of form but if I want to connect with my grandson where he is it is in the gaming world. On NPR today I heard that gaming has increased […]

CAN YOU HELP THE HELPERS?

CAN YOU HELP THE HELPERS?I am really hung up on Mr Roger’s Moms admonition that we should be “Looking for the Helpers”. There is a special group of helpers that number in the millions. These are Grandparents forced into caring for their Grandkids. A lot of this is due to the Opioid Crisis and this hasn’t taken a time out due to the Virus. These most vulnerable folks are saving Grandchildren from falling through the cracks. Many are going broke just […]

A TIME FOR CREATIVE SOLUTIONS

One of the most often sought Grandparents Rights is the ability to have visits with their grandchildren. The Covid 19 pandemic is a real game changer when it comes to visits. I guess all we have left is to get really creative as to how to communicate and stay in touch with each of our grandkids. One of the things I learned in participating and teaching Dale Carnegie principles is to practice one of the six ways to make people […]

A GAME PLAN FOR YOUR GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS

With all this time on our hands it may be a good time to make our game plan to insure our Grandparents Rights. I believe I have been clear that the is no single approach to Grandparents Rights. Just as families are complicated so is the interaction of various family dynamics thrown into the pot and stirred by Life. There are things we can do to improve our chances that Grandparents Rights are natural and not imposed. Thanks to people […]

A VALUABLE GIFT FOR OUR GRANDKIDS

As Caring Grandparents it is out job to help our GrandAngels through this. Just realize that if we are thrown off our game it must be really confusing for our Grandchildren. It will be different for each child and each Grandparent but the effort will be a win for both. Reach out and offer a “MAGIC Johnson” moment for each of your Grandkids. Thanks for being a Caring Grandparent.

MAKING OURSELVES INVALUABLE

Now is a good time to create your indispensable place in the lives of your precious Grandchildren. Since every family has it’s own dynamics it is incumbent on you to find a way to best serve your Grandbabies. The more proactive you are now the greater the rewards later. I realize it may be a stretch to do something as outrageous as to learn how to play an online game with your grandchild. It is a primary principle of Dale Carnegie […]

AN EPADEMIC WITHIN A PANDEMIC.

Grandparents caring for grandchildren because of the Opioid Epidemic don’t get to go hide. They don’t get time off to deal with the Carona virus Pandemic. Actually most of these brave folks are the most vulnerable to the pandemic. These Caring Grandparents find themselves in an already complicated and uninvited crisis. The epidemic “is overwhelming many families and child welfare systems,” said Jaia Peterson Lent of Generations United, a Washington-based advocacy group cofounded by AARP, at a Special Committee on […]

I ADMIT I AM NOT UP TO DATE WITH ONLINE GAMES!

There are advantages to being old, or should I be politically correct and say matured. One glaring advantage is that it is a little easier to stay out of trouble, especially with Staying at home during this trying time. I am of the volition that we Caring Grandparents will create new and effective ways to reach out to our Grandkids. My message to them is Calm and Common Sense. I also believe that they too will learn many self reliance […]

Where to find some awesome online games.

One of the distance appropriate and also COOL ways to interact with your grandchildren is to play online games with them. I have found the most current and valuable place to find these is the AARP site. I am not sure if you have to be a member since I already am but they have some neat ways of connecting to your Grands.
