DON’ WAIT!

I have so many friends and fellow Grandparents that have sooooooo much Love and concern for their Grandkids but just don;t get around to saying it.I hear lots of them say that they are waiting for the perfect time. I am reminded of a quote by Margeret Atwood who said “If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word”. This from a lady who is a Canadian poet, novelist, literary critic, essayist, inventor, teacher, and environmental activist. Since 1961, she has published 18 books of poetry, 18 novels, 11 books of non-fiction, nine collections of short fiction, eight children’s books, and two graphic novels, as well as a number of small press editions of both poetry and fiction. Her wisdom may be worth a second glance.
This past weekend I had a great conversation with my 14 year old Granddaughter and 11 year old Grandson about their take on this Covid 19 deal. It was a revealing and meaningful conversation that was mutually beneficial. I learned a lot from their comments and their eagerness to talk about it. I could have avoided the topic but then we all would have been deprived of what transpired. Just to put a period at the end of this thought let me share how things turned out that evening as we watched the Sun set from their deck (Pic above).
When my son came home my 14 year old Granddaughter couldn’t wait to tell him that she had a very meaningful conversation with Grandpa Neil. I am glad I didn’t skip it.

If you consider yourselves and your fellow adults confused and anxious about this pandemic just take a moment and imagine what these young curious minds are going through. It is as simple as asking a question and then listening to them with all your heart and soul. I call it “Being Present” Please DON’T WAIT, now is a very good time.
