OUR FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND

COMMUNICATING vs. CONNECTING

CELEBRATING MY GRANDCHILDREN
February 15, 2023

Since I live on the coast, I can walk on the beach. One of my greatest Joys is to go for sunrise. You may be surprised to know that the multitudes don’t get up early and crowd onto the beach. I prefer it that way.

Each Sunday, I write a little, what I call a newsletter, to my family. Over the past five years, the number of people on that list has grown to about 60 now, including my Grandkids. It is where I share family news, accomplishments, birthdays, meaningful quote, etc. I also have a sermon. It is just some story or lesson of some wise person I have learned in my almost 80 years on this spaceship called earth. It is remarkable that anyone still reads it, but I get some comments indicating that it is still being read.

Like the footprints I leave in the fresh sand when I walk on the beach, this weekly connection to the family is doing the same.

That connection is the magic elixir for what ails the world, and if I can show this, especially to my Grandchildren at every turn, I will have left a Legacy that lives on long after I am gone.

My 13 Grandkids and now, Great Grandkids range in age from 14 to 36. Each has this unique personality that requires some research to keep up with all that goes on in their lives, but I promise you it is not only exciting but gratifying when you recognize that you are not just talking with each but connecting with them. I will admit it was much harder to keep it interesting when I would talk to my then-eight-year-old Grandson on the phone. It is hard to remember, “So, how is school going”? Once again, it is well worth the effort.

Your Legacy is YOUR Legacy! I hope you leave some footprints for those miracles we call Grandchildren to follow.

Thanks for being a Caring Grandparent.
