BLISS

If you are the Paternal Grandparents of a family that is experiencing difficulties you are much more vulnerable to troubled waters when it comes to spending time with your Grandkids. The reasons for this are many and very complicated but the facts still remain the same.

Let’s first consider that the courts, whenever possible, will honor the wishes of the parents. The greatest weight of this is given to the mother unless circumstances dictate differently. The adage about blood being thicker than water usually applies.

It is normally the case that a lot of water has run under this bridge that you may not know about and even if you do I strongly advise you not to verbally weigh in, if at all possible, especially within ear shot of the Grandchildren.

As much as I could write about the fairness of all of this it would be wasted rhetoric. If you are really intent on doing your best to spend time with your Grands I advise you ask yourself one question, “How much do you want to pay to be right”?

I can’t emphasize this enough. It is impossible for words to be “Unheard”. Anything said and done at this juncture in the relationship can determine your future with your Grandkids.

I hear stories all the time of Grandparents who have nearly chewed a hole in their tongue but are still enjoying time with and more important, adding value to the lives of their grand children.

Thank You for being a Caring Grandparent.  Grandpa NEIL
